Saving Spiders

Place a few toy spiders at the bottom of the container/ messy tray. Then string the yarn back and forth on top going in different directions so that it looks like a spider web.

For children under 2, let them use their own hands to remove the spiders. For children over that age, add pairs of tweezers to extend the learning experience.

The learning goal here is to support children’s hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, focus and attention.

As the adult leading the activity, we recommend that you model the action to the child once and be there to support them but without interrupting them. Only showing again or helping if requested, giving them space and time to fully focus on the task at hand.
