The benefits of music 0-6months

Did you know that music activates both the logical and creative sides of the brain? Music helps to build complex neural connections in our brains. The more we engage, the faster we can think and perform multiple tasks. But perhaps the best thing about music is that it is fun. When a child is having fun, they are open to learning.

Music activates both sides of the brain; the logical and the creative, and it is also fun. When children are having fun and are engaged, they are open to learning experiences.

We use the same regions of our brain to process aspects of music and language. The ability to tune in to music and sound is the starting point for babies' speech, language, and communication development. Babies tune in to environmental sounds, which later on helps them tune into the speech sounds they can hear around them. Babies up to six months of age, can tune into the sounds of any language, but after six months, they respond more to the sounds of the language they hear most.

Babies respond positively to sounds and music even when they are still in the womb, which helps them get ready for what is to come in the outside world in terms of sounds in the environment. Babies can distinguish the voice of their caregivers and respond to it more than they do to unknown speech and voice patterns.
